Yes – usually do longer walks at the weekend. Like to be outdoors and the weather doesn't matter – sometimes get some fantastic days in the winter.

There is certainly some evidence to suggest changes in sleep during winter compared with summer (for example decreases in deep sleep and increases in REM sleep), as well as a delay in time to bed. Light has big role to play.

Is REM sleep where we dream? I never remember my dreams – I know we all have them.

I like the notion of daylight bulbs. It bears looking into, especially in the winter. I go outside every day and that also helps.

Good point jot and nice pun.. “it bears looking into..”. Certainly light boxes can be very useful for those suffering from SAD. But milder SAD symptoms probably affect many people throughout the population.

My sister in law recommended them as she uses them when she's sewing as the light is much better. I find the light better to read by but have noticed that switching the light on in the morning helps to wake me up properly.

That's right DR. we mostly dream in REM sleep, these dreams tend to be vivid and bizarre, and emotionallly driven. We also dream in lighter phases of sleep as well (these are less well remembered)

Wow! Never thought of using them for sewing. Another adventure to add to my list of “DO“S”!

By the way, I'm not sure what the difference is but daylight simulation bulbs are much cheaper than SAD light boxes.
